Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience

Position Summary: Assist faculty, graduate students and/or staff in development, preparation, and review of proposals for external funding. Submit proposals to sponsors within DLSA limits. Coordinate submission of proposals outside DLSA limits with CVM Grants Coordinators and/or SPA. Serve as a resource to CVM Business Managers and investigators in administration of sponsored projects. Interpret, clarify and document diverse sponsor requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Knowledge of procedures in pre-award grant with some financial preparation. Good interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work independently and resolve common problems. Self-starter and teamwork is preferred. Graduation from an accredited college or university. Delegated Limited Submission Authority (DLSA) status to be attained at this level within six to twelve months.

Physical Demands: Sitting for long periods of time; extensive reading of proposal guidelines and policy and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty, graduate students and/or staff in development, preparation, and review of proposals for external funding and with set up and routing of proposals in the UGA Grants Portal. Assure accuracy of proposal budgets, including indirect costs, cost share, subcontracts, and overall completeness of proposal.
  • Submit proposals to sponsors within DLSA limits. Coordinate submission of proposals outside DLSA limits with CVM Grants Coordinators and/or SPA. Work closely with other CVM Grants Coordinators as needed to balance workload and facilitate submission of timely, compliant proposals.
  • Serve as a resource to CVM Business Managers and investigators in administration of sponsored projects - help with NCE requests, pending award requests, modifications, award budgets and award information needed, progress report information and troubleshooting issues. Track/monitor/follow up on non-financial requests routed to SPA until complete. Provide guidance to help ensure that restricted accounts are managed in accordance with UGA financial policies and procedures and sponsor terms and conditions.
  • Interpret, clarify and document diverse sponsor requirements. Participate in training sessions, conferences and webinars to stay current on research administration. Help with periodic summary reports and with resources to improve research administration.
