Position Summary: Sponsored Projects Administration, Pre-Award, is the central pre-award office at UGA. The office manages a portfolio of awards/proposals. Work is highly professional and technical, involving review and processing of grant proposals, negotiation of awards and contracts, and post-award non-financial administrative duties. This position serves on the contract team and will join SPA staff to manage complex sponsors, contracts, and authorities. The Grants Officer I mentors others in SPA and may train newer employees. The role requires independent management of workload, meeting deadlines and performance metrics, and adherence to SPA Customer Service Standards. The employee will negotiate contracts and may have signatory authority to bind the University.
