Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago seeks a Grants and Contracts Associate to provide expert pre-award support for investigators across the College of Public Health. You will coordinate complex proposals, advise on sponsor requirements, and manage timelines and budgets to advance research funding.

The role emphasizes compliance, collaboration with faculty and external partners, and ensuring successful submissions in NIH/ASSIST and eRA systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field and experience in preparing grant applications.
• Experience with NIH ASSIST and eRA Commons is required.
• Ability to navigate complex grant requirements and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-award project management for extramural funding proposals, including multi-component and center grant applications.
• Coordinate proposal development with PIs and research teams; establish submission timelines.
• Review materials for completeness and compliance; manage electronic submissions.
• Prepare administrative packages including budgets and sponsor forms.
• Develop and review complex budgets aligning with aims and guidelines.
• Maintain proposal records and liaise with Office of Sponsored Programs.
• Coordinate documentation for Just-In-Time requests and IRB approvals.
• Advise on compliance requirements including human participants, data sharing, and export controls.
• Support community partners and navigate regulatory requirements as needed.
• Perform related duties and contribute to special projects.
