Job summary

Felton Institute seeks a Staff Accountant II to ensure contract billing accuracy, reconciliations, and compliant financial reporting across multiple funding streams. You will bridge the Fiscal Department and program teams, handling grant documentation, audits, and funder communications.

The role requires strong accounting skills, nonprofit fund knowledge, and meticulous attention to detail to manage several funding sources and reporting cycles on time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 3–5+ years progressive accounting experience with contracts and reporting.
• Experience with state, county, or federal contracts in nonprofit funding.

Responsibilities

• Manage contract billing and monthly reconciliations across funding sources.
• Prepare journal entries in line with GAAP and agency policy.
• Produce financial analyses to support budgeting and forecasting.
• Generate recurring and ad-hoc reports for leadership and funders.
• Monitor grants budgets and report variances with corrective actions.
• Maintain grant reports and ensure consistency with accounting records.
• Support audits and respond to funder inquiries.
