Job summary

Century College is seeking an Accounting Officer to oversee GAAP compliance, grant accounting, budget monitoring, and financial reporting. The role supports accurate fiscal management across assigned accounts, while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and Minnesota State policies.

The position requires 2 years of accounting experience and a relevant degree; hybrid work environment supported by Century College, with emphasis on collaboration and process improvement.

Qualifications

• This position requires two years of accounting experience performing duties such as reconciling accounts, analyzing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, monitoring budgets, and processing accounts receivable.
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field may substitute for one year of experience.
• An associate degree in accounting or closely related field may substitute for six months of experience.
• Experience reconciling general ledger accounts in a complex accounting system.
• Knowledge of budgeting principles to prepare, monitor, analyze, and review program and grant budgets.
• Knowledge of federal grant regulations and funding requirements to assist with grant administration, compliance monitoring, and reporting.
• GAAP knowledge to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized grant accounting functions for various grants, including preparing reports and time-and-effort reporting.
• Provide oversight to ensure grant activity complies with GAAP and Minnesota State policies.
• Analyze grant expenditures, revenues, and budgets to ensure funding requirements are met.
• Interpret grant regulations, monitor financial activity, and prepare fiscal reports for managers.
• Serve as fiscal resource for grants and participate in audits and renewal activities.
• Perform general accounting functions, reconcile ledgers, prepare financial reports, and monitor revenues and expenditures.
• Develop procedures to improve internal controls and accounting efficiency.
• Perform debt referrals related to receivables and coordinate with debt collection as needed.
• Assist staff with fiscal procedures, budget monitoring, and financial reporting processes.
• Communicate with students regarding Business Office procedures and deadlines.
