Job summary

Harper College seeks a Grant Accountant to support fiscal administration and compliance for college grants. Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of grant accounting experience required.
• Education: B.A./B.S. in Accounting or five years of relevant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as College liaison with internal departments and grantees for fiscal administration and compliance related to grants.
• Interprets grant guidelines and ensures expenditures comply with state and federal regulations, grant agreements, and budgets as well as college policies.
• Extracts and analyzes data needed for year-end accruals.
• Researches, prepares and posts journal entries to transfer funds or make corrections as needed.
• Uses generally accepted accounting principles to analyze, record and process accounting documents.
• Responsible for grant set-up, recording entries, and monitoring grant revenues and expenditures.
• Ensures a clean audit of grants and responds to auditor requests for information.
• Prepares annual audit and budget documents related to grants and federal programs; provides support for other audit segments.
• Creates grant financial reports and reimbursement requests; monitors receipt of funds.
• Provides guidance on allowable costs and compliant purchasing procedures to grant administrators and project directors.
• Provides technical and accounting assistance to grant program managers regarding financial development and management of grant budgets.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
