Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking accountants at levels I, II, or Sr. Accountant within the Office of Contracts & Grants.

The roles involve recording, analysis, and reporting of financial data in accordance with GAAP and federal, state, university, and NACUBO guidelines. Responsibilities include assembling data, preparing reconciliations and cash transfers, auditing documents, monitoring cash advances, and maintaining student billing where applicable.

Qualifications

• Requires a formal 4 year degree in accounting or a related field.
• Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
• Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

• Assembles data from books of original entry and central control records.
• Prepares monthly account reconciliations, biweekly cash transfers, and other financial statements and reports.
• Audits and processes purchase, cash receipt, and disbursement documents in accordance with disbursing rules and regulations.
• Monitors status and use of short-term operational cash advances and advises management of status.
• Maintains student billing system accounting function and creates and corrects transcode errors.
