Job summary

University of Georgia seeks a Temporary Accountant to support post-award accounting and financial reporting on sponsored projects. The position involves setting up awards, ensuring chartstrings align with sponsor requirements, and maintaining compliance across the grants portfolio.

The role requires experience in accounting and familiarity with post-award processes. It will be based in Athens, GA, with a temporary term ending June 30, 2028, and reports to the Post Award Accounting unit.

Qualifications

  • Involves accurate and timely completion of reports and invoices.
  • Experience with post-award administration and sponsored funding.
  • Knowledge of UGA accounting systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret and check award documents and set up awards and chartstrings in the Financial Management System based on sponsor requirements.
  • Review and approve fiscal compliance items including UGAMart Requisitions, Expense Reports, Payment Requests, and Journals for charges on sponsored projects.
  • Assist and prepare information for audits and respond to external agency and departmental questions.
  • Serve as a liaison with departmental contacts and address budget issues as necessary.
