Qualifications

  • Must have very strong analytical skills, able to analyze data and develop targeted development strategies based on research.
  • Must demonstrate creativity of approach and ability to work as member of a team to craft right contact for funding source.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area preferred or relevant professional experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, Salesforce, and Instrumentl; training provided.
  • Driver's license and use of a vehicle required; travel throughout New Jersey and beyond as needed.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Able to work extended hours when needed.
  • Willingness to act in an 'as-needed' capacity for emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and assemble funding applications for new and existing grants and contracts.
  • Act as primary grant manager on various contracts and awards, ensuring deliverables are met.
  • Maintain funder relations and ensure appropriate information flow.
  • Plan strategies to secure new grants and bolster support and revenue.
  • Analyze service and program data, research sources, and apply for funds.
  • Enter and update funding contracts and related information in Salesforce, Instrumentl, and databases.
  • Attend Agency meetings and maintain relationship management with Grantors.
  • Coordinate communications strategies for funders and on-site visits to Corps.
  • Write and coordinate application processes for multi-Corps programs.
  • Collaborate with Corps, Human Services, and Finance to ensure compliance and reporting.

Job description

Overview

The Grants and Contracts Manager will be responsible for researching and identifying public, private, and corporate funding opportunities and evaluating appropriateness for the organization; developing grant proposals; assembling all pertinent grant material packages for final submission; coordinating the completion and submission of related reports and updates for awarded funds and maintaining the grants management database. The Grants and Contracts Manager will assist as needed with all aspects of fundraising and provide necessary administrative support when needed.

Responsibilities

The duties listed below are the primary duties of this position but are not all the required duties. Specifically, the primary duties are:

  • Develop, write, and assemble funding applications (for both new and existing grants and contracts).
  • Act as primary grant manager on various contracts and awards, ensuring deliverables are met and The Salvation Army follows funder expectations.
  • Act as the liaison with funders, maintaining positive funder relations and ensuring the appropriate flow of information and data.
  • Plan strategies under the direction of supervisor for securing new grants and for bolstering support and revenue in existing and/or renewing contracts.
  • Analyze service and program data; research and apply for appropriate sources of funds to help meet the needs of The Salvation Army.
  • Ensure that all funding contracts, actions, and all related information are entered into and updated in Salesforce, Instrumentl, and contract database.
  • Attend related Agency meetings and ensure relationship management with Grantor.
  • Steward and lead communication strategies for funders, including the coordination of on-site visits to Corps.
  • Write and coordinate application processes for multi-Corps grant programs.
  • Work in concert with Corps, Human Services, and Finance and others to ensure compliance and reporting are accomplished.
  • Other duties within the scope of the role as assigned by supervisors.
