Job summary

Hampton Roads Transit in Virginia seeks a Grants Accounting Supervisor to oversee all grant accounting, financial reporting, and compliance activities, reporting to the Director of Finance. You will supervise grant accounting staff, ensure compliance with federal, state and local grant requirements, and manage the monthly close related to grants.

The position requires strong leadership, analytical and communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field required; MBA preferred.
• Three years of accounting experience required; strong grant/accounting background beneficial.
• Demonstrated analytical and written/oral communication skills essential.

Responsibilities

• Supervises grant staff responsible for project expenditure tracking, reconciling, reimbursing, and reporting.
• Prepares, reviews, and approves reimbursement requests to external funding partners for timely drawdown of funds.
• Ensures general ledger data for grants and related assets are accurate and reconciled monthly, quarterly and annually.
• Oversees maintenance of official grant files, records and documentation for federal, state and local projects.
