Job summary

The College of the Florida Keys is seeking a Grants Accountant to manage advanced accounting tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and grant reporting. You’ll coordinate budgets with grant administrators and ensure compliance with college and grant policies. Work is under the Administrative Dean, Financial and IT Operations.

Typical duties include SEFA preparation, invoicing, drawdowns, and audits coordination with external auditors. ACFK campus commitments and growth are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of government accounting, auditing, and expenditure control.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of laws and procedures for receipt, custody, and expenditure of monies.
  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise accounting personnel.
  • Ability to prepare financial and statistical reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with students, staff and public.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Skill with a PC and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve all requisitions for fund availability and compliance for grants and activities.
  • Manage monthly and year-end general ledger closings and documentation for funds.
  • Prepare annual SEFA and financial reports.
  • Prepare monthly invoices for FKEF and manage receivables.
  • Prepare periodic grant/contract activity reporting per agreements.
  • Balance financial transactions per grant stipulations and regulations.
  • Monitor cash balances on grants and request drawdowns as needed.
  • Ensure expenditures comply with accounting standards and policies.
  • Reconcile federal/state cash (Pell, Stafford Loans, etc.).
  • Assist in travel pre/post reconciliations and provide financial analyses.
