Job summary

Socket.dev in Palatine, IL, seeks an experienced Grant Accountant to manage fiscal administration for college grants and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

You will prepare and post journal entries, monitor grant revenues and expenditures, develop budgets, and support annual audits and reporting. The position offers a 3-2-5 hybrid schedule and indoor, sedentary work.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.A./B.S. in Accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of grant accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and auditing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as college liaison with internal departments and grantees for all fiscal administration and fiscal compliance issues related to grants.
  • Interprets grant guidelines and ensure expenditures comply with state and federal regulations, grant agreements, and college policies and procedures.
  • Extracts and analyzes data needed for year-end accruals.
  • Researches, prepares and posts journal entries to transfer funds or make corrections as needed.
  • Using generally accepted accounting principles, analyzes, records and processes a variety of accounting documents.
  • Responsible for grant set-up, recording entries, and monitoring grant revenues and expenditures.
  • Ensures a clean audit of grants, both periodic and close-out, and responds to all auditor requests for information.
  • Prepares all annual audit and budget documents related to grants, federal programs, and ICCB grant financial statements. Provides support for the preparation of other audit segments.
  • Creates grant financial reports and requests for reimbursement and monitors receipt of funds.
  • Provides guidance on allowable costs and compliant purchasing procedures to grant administrators and project directors to ensure compliance with grant agreements and budgets and timely expending of funds, meeting all financial reporting deadlines.
  • Provides technical and accounting assistance to the grant program managers with regard to the financial development and management of grant budgets.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Work is primarily indoors, and sedentary in nature. This position is eligible for the eligible for the 3-2-5 hybrid work schedule.

Equipment/Tools Used:

Utilizes standard office equipment, including computers, in order to perform the duties required for this position.

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Grant Accounting Manager. Receives oral and written instruction as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

Education: B.A./B.S. in Accounting or five years of relevant experience required.

Experience: Minimum of three years of relevant grant accounting experience required
