Job summary

Arts for Learning Maryland is seeking a Grant Writer to join the Development Team in a full-time exempt role. The position focuses on crafting proposals, LOIs, and reports to secure foundation, corporate, and government support.

You will collaborate across departments to gather data, manage deadlines, and nurture funder relations. The role emphasizes equity and community-centered fundraising, with a base salary around the posted range and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Arts Administration, Education, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• Proven ability to write compelling, well-structured content for diverse audiences.
• Experience collaborating across departments to gather information and support organizational processes.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Docs/Sheets; familiarity with fundraising databases such as Salesforce or Bloomerang is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, compile, and submit high-quality proposals, LOIs, and reports for foundation, corporate, and government funders.
• Ensure all submissions meet funder requirements and reflect organizational priorities.
• Collaborate with staff across departments to gather budget, data and narrative elements.
• Track deadlines and ensure timely submission of all deliverables.
• Support relationship-building with institutional funders by coordinating calls, meetings, and site visits.
• Research potential new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities.
• Maintain accurate grant records and grants calendar; ensure proper tracking of grant activity.
• Participate in meetings and external fundraising events as needed.
