Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Research Development Officer at the Instructor level with a full-time faculty appointment in Academic Affairs Faculty. The role focuses on supporting investigators across centers and grants, developing guidance for federal guidelines, and helping enhance the competitiveness of proposals.

Responsibilities include delivering workshops, publishing resources, and offering strategic funding consultations while advancing MUSC’s research priorities

Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to articulate complex scientific concepts for technical reviewers and lay readers.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for grant proposals and reports.
• Proven track record in proposal development or scientific writing.
• Experience in a scientific research environment and grant funding understanding.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for principal investigators and multidisciplinary research teams on grant opportunities to enhance competitiveness.
• Deliver lectures and develop materials for professional development workshops and webinars on federal guidelines and grant-writing strategies.
• Develop and publish web resources and communications for grant opportunities; maintain research environment websites.
• Provide strategic feedback on grant components (Specific Aims, Research Strategies, ancillary documents).
• Collaborate with leadership to match research areas with announcements and RFAs; support Funding Focus weekly.Perform other research development activities supporting MUSC priorities.
