Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Research Development Officer at the Instructor level within Academic Affairs Faculty. This hybrid, full-time role partners with investigators to develop competitive extramural funding proposals across multicenter teams, training initiatives, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• A doctoral degree in biomedical/health/behavioral sciences is required.
• 3+ years of experience in research development, scientific writing, proposal development, or related field preferred.
• Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance MUSC’s development and submission of complex, multidisciplinary proposals including center grants and infrastructure grants.
• Educate and advise MUSC researchers on proposal development, grant writing, and application preparation.
• Develop and publish web resources for federal and foundation grants; maintain the Scientific Environment website.
• Provide strategic feedback on proposals, including Specific Aims and Research Strategies.
• Offer consultations on funding strategy and match faculty with announcements and RFAs; contribute to the weekly Funding Focus newsletter.
• Performs other research development activities aligned with ORD and MUSC priorities.
