Job summary

MusC Health in South Carolina seeks a Grants Administrator II to lead and oversee the department’s research grants administration. You will guide faculty and staff through the full lifecycle of sponsored research, from pre-award proposal development to post-award compliance and reporting.

You will supervise grants staff, coordinate complex budgets, and implement processes to improve efficiency and funding success, while ensuring sponsor and institutional compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or social sciences.
• Four years’ experience in contracts and grant administration activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive proposal development support to faculty, investigators, fellows, and trainees.
• Coordinate preparation, review, routing, and submission of grant applications to sponsors.
• Develop and review complex proposal budgets per sponsor guidelines and policies.
• Evaluate cost sharing, F&A, effort, waivers, and other fiscal requirements.
• Coordinate proposal activities with collaborating institutions and internal stakeholders.
• Review proposals for completeness and compliance before submission.
• Maintain systems for tracking pending, submitted, and awarded proposals.
• Lead and manage departmental research administration operations.
• Supervise and mentor grants staff for compliance and service quality.
• Manage and monitor proposals, set priorities, ensure timely submissions.
• Serve as a resource for grant policies and procedures.
• Develop metrics and reports to inform leadership.
• Participate in research administration workgroups and development activities.
• Prepare sponsor documentation, including RPPRs, carryovers, extensions, and closeouts.
• Assist with investigator biosketches, Other Support, and related sponsor documents.
• Support award setup, transfers, and multi-year management.
• Monitor award requirements and maintain sponsor compliance.
