Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia Careers is seeking a Family Services Specialist I in Virginia. Entry-level casework under close supervision trains in Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care/Adoption, Child Care, and Employment Services.

Upon successful completion of the training program and related approvals, the role may advance to Family Services Specialist II with broader responsibilities, including developing service plans and coordinating with agencies to support

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of related experience in a Human Services area.
Possession of a BSW or MSW and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license are desirable.
Criminal History Background search, Central Registry search, DMV/driving record check, and pre-employment drug screen may be required.

Responsibilities

Interpret laws, policies and regulations as applied to specific area of responsibility.
Monitors, coordinates and administers specific programs as assigned.
Interviews and assesses customer needs and other relevant factors.
Develop and implement service plans to ensure delivery of appropriate services to clients.
Provide case management services to monitor compliance.
Provides after hours on-call coverage and responds to emergencies in child/adult protective services and foster care.
