Job summary

The City of Fayetteville in North Carolina is seeking a Crime Analyst to collect, process, analyze and distribute crime data and statistics; evaluate data related to crime and produce reports for supervisory staff. The role supports the Police Department with complex analytical work, GIS mapping, and trend identification.

This grant-funded two-year term may extend depending on funding. Two years of statistical analysis experience is required, with an Associate’s degree; a Bachelor’s degree is

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in statistical research and data analysis in a Police Department, other law enforcement agency or military intelligence.
• Ability to obtain DCI/NCIC Level I & II Certification within one year of employment.
• Associate's degree from an accredited college; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Query, edit and manipulate data across multiple tables using systems like Crystal Reports, SQL, Excel, Access.
• Collect, research, analyze and distribute crime data and information; compile into reports for supervisors.
• Compile daily activity summaries and disseminate findings to sworn staff and executives as appropriate.
• Create and manage charts, association matrices and timelines.
• Create maps using ARC-GIS; summarize crime hot-spots and trends.
• Coordinate analysis of crime statistics with other departments and report significant trends to management.
• Provide analytical support for special projects and grant reporting.
