Job summary

Paralyzed Veterans of America in Washington, DC is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial stewardship, month-end close, and grant tracking. The role collaborates with program and development teams to ensure internal controls and donor fund compliance.

The position reports to the Assistant Controller, with a hybrid work model (2 days in office, 3 days remote) and a comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement matching, and education assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong computer skills with MS Office (Excel) and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for monthly and year-end close.
• Track restricted funds, grants, and program expenses.
• Assist with budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis.
• Support payroll accounting and benefit reconciliations.
• Assist with annual audit and Form 990 preparation.
• Maintain audit trail and internal controls.
