Job summary

Texas State University is seeking a Grant Coordinator for the Talent Search Austin program to develop and oversee services for students in grades 6–12 at Austin area schools. The role involves coordinating tutoring, counseling, and college access activities, with occasional travel to San Marcos.

The successful candidate will manage program records, complete needs assessments, and maintain strong partnerships with schools and families to promote college enrollment and financial aid readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, public administration, or related field.
  • Experience providing academic support, academic advising, college application assistance, career exploration, economic literacy, or financial aid assistance to students.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized budgets, supervising student staff or tutors, and maintaining participant records.
  • Experience developing programs, events, trips, and workshops for students.
  • Experience advising secondary school students (grades 6–12) on college, career, financial aid and economic literacy.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and database management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project recruitment and recruitment activities.
  • Complete Individual Service Plans and Needs Assessments for participants.
  • Develop and implement co-curricular programs for students and parents, including workshops, trips and events.
  • Oversee tutoring schedules and ensure effective utilization of tutoring services.
  • Monitor participant progress and reporting on academic performance and personal growth.
  • Provide college admission and financial aid information to participants; support graduation and college enrollment steps.
  • Maintain participant files and project documentation in the student database; ensure accurate records.
  • Assist with pre/post evaluations for participants and parents/guardians.
  • Assist in collecting data and preparing annual performance or other reports.
  • Develop outreach networks within target communities and schools; act as liaison and point of contact.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Job Description

This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding.

Reports to the Director of Talent Search Austin at Texas State University. The Talent Search Austin Coordinator promotes educational achievement and the pursuit of post- secondary education enrollment for program participants.

The Coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of comprehensive services for program participants in the 6th to 12th grades at the program’s target schools.

Position located at target schools in Austin, Texas with occasional travel to the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Job Duties
  • Assist with project recruitment.
  • Complete Individual Service Plans ( ISP ) and Needs Assessments annually for new and continuing participants.
  • Develop and implement innovative co-curricular programming for students and parents/guardians including workshops, trips, and events.
  • Develop and oversee academic tutoring schedules for students to adhere to on a weekly basis. Ensure students effectively utilize tutoring services provided and communicate needs from tutors as appropriate.
  • Oversee the assessment and reporting of participant progress, personal growth, and academic performance.
  • Provide college admission and financial aid process information. Ensure that senior participants take appropriate steps toward high school graduation and college enrollment.
  • Assist project director in maintenance of participant files and project-specific documentation to ensure all appropriate services and contacts are entered into the student database; verify promotion, retention, and graduation of all current participants.
  • Assist with pre and post evaluations for participants and parents/guardians.
  • Monitor outcome objectives, collect data, and assist in preparing annual performance reports/other reports as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain professional outreach networks within target area communities and schools, serving as a liaison and point of contact as needed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to promote personal and professional growth.
  • Conduct other duties as assigned.
