Job summary

Families in Transition seeks a Grant Accountant to manage the full grant billing cycle, reconcile accounts, assist with budgets, audits, and close processes, and liaise with funders to resolve discrepancies.

This role requires 5+ years of nonprofit accounting, strong Excel skills, and experience with Sage Intacct or similar systems; you will prepare monthly draws and maintain grant receivables in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, or related field.
• 5+ years’ nonprofit accounting and finance experience, with grant management exposure.
• Strong analytical capabilities with discernment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced team with changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
• Strong problem solving, time management, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Records general journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts.
• Assists with month-end and year-end close; handles grant billings and accruals.
• Reviews bank statements and payroll entries for accurate accounting.
• Backups accounts payable tasks, approves invoices, and manages cash disbursements.
• Ensures grant-related audits are completed accurately and on time.
• Supports annual budget process and assists with depreciation/ fixed assets.
• Prepares monthly draws for grant organizations and tracks receivables.
• Maintains grant draw documentation and reconciles with GL and payments.
