BASIC FUNCTION

Under general supervision, the Grant Accountant will perform accounting tasks for sponsored programs using established methods and procedures in accordance with and in compliance with the requirements of the Division of Business and Finance.

Qualifications
  • Developing timelines for the submission and the preparation of invoices
  • Review grant awards to ensure all grant personnel are appropriately charged to the correct program(s), maintain, and monitor budget files and send alerts to program directors on spending and account balances.
  • Assist in tracking time and effort reporting and sending alerts and notifications to grant personnel on due dates and timely submissions.
  • Assist with the closeout of grants to ensure all aspects of the closeout process are met.
  • Establish and monitor budgets for sponsored programs to ensure that expenditures are within the guidelines of the grant award.
  • Distribute monthly budget reports to program directors and review as needed.
  • Communicate periodically with principal investigators and grantor agencies on program related issues.
  • Perform G/L accounting functions to include implementing and processing required journal and adjusting entries and account reconciliations that affects sponsored programs.
  • Review and approve spending for grants and contract to include requisitions and travel requests for Sponsored Programs.
  • Assist in the overall management of grants throughout the lifecycle of the grant award to closeout.
  • Prepare and record journal entries to record Other Staff Benefits.
  • Review the fund balance report and prepare the monthly grant receivables and deferred revenues journal entries.
  • Work closely with the Sponsored Programs and Research offices in compiling, updating, and tracking all grants awarded to the College and developing databases.
  • Assist the grant accounting office in setting up budgets for Sponsored Programs.
  • Maintain a log on all drawdowns and reconcile monthly.
  • Have good technology and budget management skills and be proficient in Excel.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Division of Business and Finance
