The Salvation Army Grand Rapids Welcome Desk Attendant is a part-time role focused on delivering friendly, Christian hospitality to visitors, members, and staff. You will handle POS transactions, greet callers and guests, and direct inquiries to the appropriate departments, while maintaining confidentiality and basic computer proficiency.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in customer service with cash handling, strong English communication skills (Spanish a plus), and the ability to obtain First

Job Description

Responsibilities :

• Provide world class customer service to the community; see that all customers, clients and members are given prompt and courteous service, with an attitude of Christian hospitality.
• Perform point of sales (POS) transactions/CCMS functions at the Welcome Desk.
• Perform all Welcome Desk duties.
• Serve customers, clients and membership.
• Receive and handle incoming telephone calls, greet visitors and respond to emails in a friendly and business‑like manner.
• Direct calls to appropriate program/staff in a timely manner.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or GED equivalency , or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Minimum of 1- 2 years’ experience working in customer service and cash handling related industries.
• Must have excellent computer skills; experience in working with Microsoft Office products, cash handling, and register sales. Computer database application experience helpful. Ability to use new software programs with basic training.
• Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communications skills; Spanish language proficiency preferred.
• Must comply with all applicable business, employment and copyright laws.
• Must uphold and enhance public appreciation and trust for the fitness industry.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all clients’ information.
• Must have, or be able to obtain within the first 30 days of employment, First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
