Job summary

Western Grain Marketing is seeking a Grain Handler Technician in Illinois to safely handle, store, and move grain within a grain facility. You will operate conveyors, augers, elevators, dryers, and storage systems, while maintaining cleanliness and safety protocols.

The role requires physical labor, a valid driver''s license, basic math and computer skills, and forklift/heavy machinery certification. Expect varied seasonal hours and opportunities to contribute to shipping and receiving processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or related agricultural experience.
• Valid driver''s license with satisfactory driving history.
• Basic math and computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management.
• Strong mechanical aptitude to operate and repair equipment.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects; physical labor required.
• Forklift or heavy machinery operation certification.
• Commitment to safety guidelines and PPE.
• Excellent organizational and time management; multitasking.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in varying weather and long hours during peak seasons.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Maintain integrity and handle confidential information.
• Provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and load grain using conveyors, augers, and elevators.
• Operate and maintain grain handling machinery, including dryers and storage systems.
• Conduct quality checks on grain for moisture, weight, and other specifications.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper storage practices.
• Clean and maintain grain bins, pits, and work areas to meet safety and hygiene standards.
• Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Comply with all safety regulations, including using PPE.
• Maintain accurate records of grain shipments, inventory, and operational activities.
