Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden is seeking a WILD Student Instructional Designer to move learning content from concept to implementation, translating staff needs into clear objectives, live-session materials, and interactive eLearning modules. The role involves content production, accessibility, LMS publishing, and continuous improvement for a diverse workforce.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning Operations and Strategy, the position supports Grow in Minutes and Sprout Library

Qualifications

• Current graduate student in instructional design or related field.
• Experience creating instructional materials and e-learning for defined audience.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills to translate complex info into learning resources.
• Strong organizational and project coordination abilities with multiple production tasks and deadlines.
• Familiarity with accessibility, plain language, and inclusive design for varied staff.
• Experience with Articulate Rise 360 or similar e-learning tools; familiarity with Storyline is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; comfort with LMS and digital content tools.
• Ability to collaborate across roles and maintain discretion with internal information.

Responsibilities

• Translate staff needs and program priorities into learning objectives and learner-centered experiences.
• Develop and revise digital learning modules, microlearning assets, job aids, templates, and assessments using Articulate Rise 360.
• Prepare materials for live/virtual sessions; convert sessions into recordings and asynchronous formats.
• Configure, test, and publish content in NYBG's learning systems with accessibility checks and version control.
• Design materials with accessibility, plain language, and mobile use in mind for diverse staff.
• Support digital literacy and responsible AI learning with privacy, bias awareness, and source verification guidance.
• Maintain production plans, content inventories, review records, and grant-supported time documentation.
• Coordinate with subject-matter experts and colleagues to gather content and manage review cycles.
• Use feedback and pilot findings to revise materials and provide program or technology support.
• Perform other duties to support WILD and grant-funded activities.
