Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden seeks a thoughtful, organized WILD Student Researcher and Designer to support workforce development and evaluation activities. The role focuses on surveys, interviews, and data synthesis to improve staff learning experiences across NYBG.

Ideal candidates are graduate students with strong writing and coordination skills, able to translate findings into practical resources, reports, and showcases, with some remote work possible.

Qualifications

• Graduate student in organizational development, learning sciences, evaluation, or related field.
• Experience with surveys, interviews, focus groups, data organization and reporting.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills for clear summaries and resources.
• Excellent organizational and project coordination abilities with multiple timelines.
• Ability to facilitate respectful conversations across varied roles and gather feedback.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with survey/analysis/visualization tools is helpful.
• Experience in program evaluation or learning in a museum, garden, or nonprofit setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Seeds of Growth coordination, timelines, communications, and documentation.
• Maintain project plans, trackers, files, and quarterly progress records.
• Prepare templates and tools to define learning needs and outcomes.
• Design and administer surveys, interviews, and focus group guides.
• Conduct selected interviews and focus groups with confidentiality in mind.
• Collect, clean, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
• Identify themes and translate evidence into summaries and recommendations.
• Document Seeds of Growth projects as case examples and reusable resources.
• Support end-of-project showcase and collaborate on resource revisions.
• Maintain research files and ensure discretion and adherence to policies.
