Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development Graduate Intern to apply advanced analytics, ML/AI, and software engineering to clinical and healthcare data. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on knowledge graphs, medical imaging, predictive modeling, and AI applications, gaining hands-on experience in enterprise-scale healthcare analytics.

The program emphasizes mentorship, project exposure, and collaboration across data science, clinical, and engineering groups

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in a relevant field.
Pursuit of a graduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) preferred for the internship.
Strong programming experience in Python and modern data science libraries.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers and software developers.
Apply ML/analytics techniques to healthcare data and communicate results.
Contribute to research tracks: Knowledge Graphs, Medical Imaging, Predictive Modeling, AI Applications.
Design experiments, evaluate models and ensure explainability and fairness.
Develop pipelines and workflows for clinical data processing and visualization.
Document methods and present findings to technical and business audiences.
