Job summary

University of West Georgia is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Fitness & Wellness to support University Recreation programs, lead group fitness classes, assist with events, and help manage budgets.

The GA will work with the Assistant Director of Programs, oversee a Group Fitness team of students, coordinate training, and contribute to a positive student wellness environment, with a monthly stipend and tuition waiver.

Qualifications

• Be admitted to a UWG graduate program.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Enrolled full-time in UWG graduate program.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 and good academic standing.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and community.
• Previous collegiate fitness program experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist with UREC special events including races and fitness offerings.
• Oversee a Group Fitness team and evaluate class offerings each semester.
• Lead 1–2 group fitness classes or 1–2 personal training clients per semester.
• Engage students through marketing and communications to boost participation.
• Assist in budget creation and monthly reconciliation for student wages and operating expenses.
• Coordinate Personal Training and Group Fitness programs.
