Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join the Hydropower team in Overland Park, KS. You will address infrastructure challenges by contributing to a range of projects and learning the department’s design guides and standards.

In this role, you will support engineering deliverables, perform basic calculations, and collaborate with project leadership to meet budget, schedule, and quality targets. A bachelor’s degree in engineering and internship experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and ability to complete pre-employment onboarding (background check, drug screen, MVR) as applicable by law.
• Internship experience in electrical or hydropower projects preferred.
• Knowledge of design guides and standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems and applicable engineering codes.
• Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Contributes to preparation of engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports and specifications.
• Performs routine research and recommends equipment/materials.
• Collects, analyzes and manages data for engineering work.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
• Adheres to budget, schedule and quality requirements.
• Coordinates with project leadership and team members.
