Job summary

American University in Washington, DC is seeking a Career Operations, Data & Systems Assistant for part-time, 12–15 hours per week. The role supports Graduation Census and internship evaluations in the AU Career Center, coordinating research, data management, and outreach to students, alumni, and external partners.

The position reports to multiple directors and may supervise a student assistant each semester.

Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at American University.
At least one year of relevant experience in a professional office setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, contact management systems, and social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and achieve established goals.

Responsibilities

Coordinate research and outreach to alumni and students to support Graduation Census response goals.
Record, review, and validate Graduation Census and internship evaluation data.
Create and maintain tracking systems, documents, and status reports.
Support outreach to students, faculty, alumni, and partners related to evaluations and assessments.
Monitor survey-related emails, prepare responses, and refer inquiries to colleagues.
