Job summary

TikTok in Seattle is seeking a data platform engineer to participate in architecture design and implementation of data applications within the TnS group. You will help optimize architecture for performance and cost, and lead efforts in data integration, governance, and BI analysis.

The role involves mentoring team members, shaping technical direction, and collaborating across a distributed, high-concurrency environment with a strong emphasis on data insights and ML readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field is required.
• Experience with C++, Python or Java in software development.
• Proficiency with server-side tech (RPC, messaging, service governance) in distributed/high concurrency settings.
• Experience with big data systems and related tech (Spark, Flink, ClickHouse, HBase).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; data insight/ML pref is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in overall architecture design and implementation of data application platforms; formulate architecture specs and lead the team.
• Optimize data application architecture to improve stability and efficiency; reduce storage, compute, and service costs.
• Design and implement systematic support for data integration, offline/real-time development, data governance, and BI analysis.
• Establish technical influence; coach team and improve R&D capabilities.
