Job summary

A public university in Texas is seeking a part-time Graduate Assistant for Faculty Support to provide one-on-one academic tutoring to students. Responsibilities include developing study strategies, monitoring student progress, and assisting with testing accommodations. A Bachelor’s Degree is required along with the ability to perform outlined duties. The position requires approximately 10 hours of work per week during the Fall Semester.

Responsibilities

• Offer assistance with developing study strategies.
• Work with students to develop a plan that fits the student’s individual needs.
• Assist students in developing a schedule for study sessions.
• Clarify/augment student notes from lecture.
• Teach concepts using multi-sensory techniques to maximize student understanding and recall.
• Teach organization and time management skills.
• Monitor students’ progress through communication with students and professors.
• Send notification to professors regarding students with disabilities and accommodations.
• Organize and facilitate testing accommodations according to students’ diagnosis.
• Proctor exams under supervision.
• Maintain student attendance records.
• Notify students and parents regarding students’ absences from tutoring sessions.
• Write End of Semester Reports for each student.
• Participate in scheduled tutor training and development sessions.
