Job summary

Marshall University School of Pharmacy is seeking a Graduate Assistant to provide academic support, including tutoring and assistance to students in the H.E.L.P. Program. Responsibilities include facilitating study plans, clarifying lectures, and monitoring academic progress.

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree and the ability to perform the outlined duties. Experience in tutoring is preferred. This position is part-time, with a commitment of 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one academic tutoring for H.E.L.P. students.
• Assist students in developing study strategies and individualized study plans.
• Help students organize and manage schedules.
• Clarify and augment lecture notes.
• Teach concepts using multisensory techniques.
• Teach organization and time-management skills.
• Monitor student progress by communicating with students and professors.
• Send legal notification to professors regarding students with disabilities and accommodations.
• Organize and facilitate testing accommodations for compliance with the ADA.
• Proctor exams under supervision.
• Maintain attendance records.
• Notify students and parents about absences from tutoring sessions.
• Write end-of-semester reports for each student.
• Participate in weekly tutor training and development sessions.

Job Overview

Graduate Assistant: Faculty Support – Assist faculty with laboratory supervision, grading quizzes, homework, and other course and research duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student progress by communicating with students and professors.
• Send legal notification to professors regarding students with disabilities and accommodations.
• Organize and facilitate testing accommodations for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Vocational Rehabilitation Act.
• Proctor exams under the supervision of a staff monitor.
• Maintain attendance records.
• Notify students and parents about absences from tutoring sessions.
• Write end‑of‑semester reports for each student.
• Participate in weekly tutor training and development sessions.
