Position Summary:The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.
Additional Details:Department/Office Mission:The mission of the Division of Student Success is to work in partnership with the University community to deliver high quality services to facilitate the recruitment, retention and graduation of a diverse student population and strive to provide service, leadership, and transitional student support for UNCG. The Division of Student Success is committed to designing, implementing, and providing the services necessary to promote student success throughout the entire student life cycle from day one to diploma. This division includes the offices of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, University Advising, New Student Transitions & First Year Experience, Students First Office, Academic Achievement Center, TRiO Programs, UNCG Guarantee, GEAR UP UNCG, and the Multiliteracy Centers (Speaking Center, Writing Center, and Math Help Center).

The Graduate Assistant for Student Success is intended to be a two-year assistantship and reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Retention & Student Success and Spartan Well-Being Associate Director.
Job Description-Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:
The Graduate Assistant (GA) will play a crucial role in managing and supporting the Spartan Funds to Finish Rescue Grants program at UNC Greensboro (UNCG). This program is designed to help undergraduate students at risk of stopping out due to modest tuition and fee shortfalls. The GA will work in close partnership with Student Health Services and the Division of Student Success to track student progress, coordinate financial well-being activities, and support the overall success of the program. Given the close alignment with UNCG’s Spartans Thrive QEP, the GA will also contribute to enhancing students’ overall wellness and academic success. Financial wellness plays a key role in academic persistence, and the GA will help students navigate their financial challenges, empowering them to focus on their educational goals and thrive academically.Main QEP efforts include, but are not limited to:

To be eligible for appointments as a graduate assistant, you must:
• Maintain academic good standing at all times (3.0).
• Be enrolled full-time, which is generally a minimum of 9 credits.
• Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by your academic program and the Graduate School.
• Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S.
