Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; admission to Wheeling University’s graduate program required.
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the graduate program.
  • One year of collegiate playing experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must meet NCAA compliance rules, certifications and trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing training sessions.
  • Collaborate to develop strategies, analyze performances, and provide feedback.
  • Aid in recruiting by attending competitions and assisting with campus visits.
  • Mentor student‑athletes on academics, personal development, and sportsmanship.
  • Assist with administrative tasks: records, travel, and equipment inventory.
  • Support and promote the Baseball Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Wheeling University is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support the Baseball Program. This incumbent will contribute to the coaching, management, and administrative tasks for our baseball team. This position offers the unique opportunity to combine academic pursuits with hands‑on experience in collegiate athletics, supporting the development and success of our student athletes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing training sessions.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to develop strategies, analyze opponent performances, and provide feedback to student athletes.
  • Aid in the recruitment of student‑athletes by attending high school competitions, communicating with prospective athletes, and assisting with campus visits.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for student‑athletes, providing guidance on academic success, personal development, and sportsmanship.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as maintaining team records, organizing travel arrangements, and managing equipment inventory.
  • Supports and promotes the University’s sports’ programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’sdegree required. Admission to Wheeling University’s graduate program is required (please see graduate program offerings for eligibility).

  • Must be able to meet all NCAA compliance rules and regulations, certifications and trainings.

Compensation Package:

  • Full tuition remission for up to 18 credit hours per academic year (must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester).
  • $3,500 stipend paid in monthly installments in accordance with the University’s payroll schedule.
  • Room (single or double) based on availability.
  • Position runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
