Graduate Assistant - Athletics Facilities

Reports to: Associate Director of Athletics - Facilities / Event Management

Rate: State minimum wage

Location: Lisle

Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting in the operations of home athletic events and for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Sports Complex and Rice Center facilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as game day manager for fall, winter, and spring sports. Assist with all event responsibilities including setup, takedown, and overseeing events. Initiate contact with visiting athletic teams to identify gameday needs. Coordinate setup and takedown for home athletics events.
  2. Assist in supervising event management student employees. Facilitate student worker staff coordination for home athletic events. Assist with hiring, training, performance, and evaluation of student workers.
  3. Oversee the use, operation, scheduling, and maintenance of the Rice Center and Sports Complex facilities. Assist with oversight of outside groups using these facilities.

Other Functions:

  1. Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the broader community.
  2. Attend departmental and university meetings and events.
  3. Maintain positive student athlete assessments.
  4. Coordinate with university offices to facilitate events.
  5. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers, and fans.
  6. Serve on university, conference, and national committees as needed.
  7. Promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics positively on campus and in the community.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Must be enrolled as a Benedictine student in good standing.
  • Experience: Preference for experience in collegiate athletics, especially NCAA Division III.

Applicant must be accepted into a Benedictine Graduate Program and remain in good standing.

Specific Skills: Organizational, writing, typing, interpersonal, data entry, budget management, and supervisory skills. Valid driver’s license required. CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, reach, bend, stoop, sit, walk, or stand for long periods. Capable of handling stress while maintaining professionalism. Possible outdoor exposure and travel required.

Must speak clearly, understand speech, and perceive objects at various distances. Customer service skills necessary. Follow campus-specific pandemic protocols.

Travel: Yes

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes, student employees.

Working Conditions: Office environment; nights and weekends required.

Training: Complete all required Benedictine University trainings.
