Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Lubar College of Business is seeking an Academic Advisor I or II to guide admitted Graduate Business students through program options and degree requirements. You will collaborate with Graduate Student Services, faculty, and staff to develop and host events, and to support retention strategies and student success.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree or higher and at least one year of advising experience in higher education, with strong written and oral

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher required.
• At least one year of professional academic advising experience in higher education.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise, coach, and guide admitted Graduate Business students through Lubar’s courses leading to a graduate degree.
• Maintain knowledge of graduate programs and requirements at Lubar College of Business.
• Collaborate with Graduate Student Services to develop events and outreach to admitted students.
• Lead the annual retention plan to ensure high graduation rates.
• Work with faculty on program changes and admission decisions.
• Assess recruitment initiatives using campus CRM data and refine recruitment plans.
• Participates in campus-wide advising community and contribute to program development.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Mentoring and Engagement: design student engagement initiatives and mentoring programs.
• Plan and coordinate orientation programs, workshops, and networking events.
• Collaborate with faculty, alumni, and industry partners to create engagement opportunities.
• Develop communication strategies to keep students informed about deadlines and resources.
• Build relationships with prospective, current and graduating students to improve retention and satisfaction.
• Track engagement metrics and contribute to student success.
