Job summary

The University of Louisville is seeking an Academic Advisor II to provide holistic, individualized academic advising to undergraduate students at Belknap Campus. The role supports student success by helping students understand curricula, navigate policies, and set goals.

Key duties include guiding students from orientation to graduation, collaborating with campus partners, applying university policies, and using advising software to track progress and outcomes. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Guide assigned students in their academic success from orientation to commencement in general routine issues.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across campus, including other advisors, faculty, campus offices, and administrators.
• Explain, interpret, and apply unit and University policies, procedures, and program requirements.
• Counsel students in analyzing their unique causes of academic difficulty and recommend typically pre-established guidelines.
• Empower students to plan their academic program, audit student progress toward degree completion, and certify student degree requirements in assigned program areas.
• Assist students in the selection of majors and minors appropriate to their interests, backgrounds, and academic qualifications.
• Utilize advising software to maintain accurate and detailed advising notes, track students, and use data to identify student needs.
• Assist students in following established procedure for resolving problems requiring action by unit and other university committees.
• Participate in advising-related outreach and educational presentations to audiences such as prospective students and families, current students, FYE classes, etc.
