Job summary

UC Santa Barbara seeks an Academic Advisor 3 SV to counsel graduate students, faculty, and staff on campus-wide and departmental graduate policies. You will coordinate degree milestones and assist with retention and degree completion efforts, reporting to the Dean of the Graduate Division.

The role requires strong communication, detail orientation, and the ability to work with multiple departments to ensure compliant progress to degree and timely degree milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of high-detail work with policy, procedures, and data entry.
• 1-3 years of experience with Word, Excel, online systems, and databases (Access).
• Ability to interpret and apply policies from Graduate Division and related offices.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise graduate students, faculty, and staff on graduate policies and degree requirements.
• Assist with enrollment and degree milestones in Graduate Division and Registrar systems.
• Supervise student workers and coordinate with departments to maximize enrollment.
• Train staff and provide back-up support within Academic Services.
• Share responsibilities with colleagues to ensure timely dissemination of enrollment information.
