Job summary

The University of California at Santa Barbara seeks a senior leader to direct Graduate Division graduate student financial support programs, including fellowships, appointments, and fee remission. You will supervise the Graduate Fellowship unit and coordinate with 45 departments to align funding with recruitment and retention goals.

As a strategic advisor to the AVC and Dean, you will model multi-year funding, ensure compliance with labor agreements, manage a fellowship portfolio over $28

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent training/experience.
• 7-9 years in financial management, budget administration or analysis, incl. fund accounting.
• 4-6 years Supervisory experience.
• Broad knowledge of financial transactions, systems, policy, accounting and regulatory compliance.
• Strong spreadsheet and database software skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills across the organization.
• Experience building financial models and multi-year planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for development and central administration of graduate student financial support at UCSB, including fellowships, academic appointments, and fee remission programs.
• Manage the Graduate Student Financial Support unit and budget strategies to support campus goals.
• Advise senior leadership on funding models, policy implications, and multi-year sustainability.
• Direct campus-wide graduate academic appointment policy and labor contract compliance.
• Oversee distribution of funds and endowments and stewardship of information systems.
• Collaborate with ITS and campus units on financial systems and reporting.

Education

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training/experience

7-9 years progressively responsible experience in financial management, budget administration, or financial analysis, including experience with fund accounting or restricted/sponsored fund management

4-6 years Supervisory experience

Broad knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements

Strong skills in use of spreadsheet and database software

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels

Demonstrated ability to build financial models and conduct scenario analysis in support of multi-year planning

Demonstrated experience advising senior leadership on high-consequence resource decisions
