A leading company in electrical construction seeks a Project Superintendent-Grading. The role encompasses managing various construction projects, ensuring safety compliance, and leading a team of employees while contributing to their training and development. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in project management and a commitment to safety practices.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Project Superintendent-Grading manages multiple construction projects, coordinates labor and equipment to construct projects, schedules subcontractors and material suppliers, manages and supervises employees on assigned projects, tracks and reports materials, and schedules, coordinates, and communicates with customers and internal employees. The incumbent supervises, manages, and directs the selection, training, development, and appraisal of its own employees. Knowledge of grading equipment is necessary. The individual will practice absolute confidentiality. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned. Normal work hours are day or night shift, eight (8) to fourteen (14) hour days Monday through Friday. Weekend work may be required depending on the contract. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) as required. This job description provides an overview of responsibilities and task to be performed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complies with all safety policies, procedures, and established safe practices, and ensures that all direct reports do the same. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or the Manager Safety and Health.
- Trains, develops, and monitors the safety practices (including PPE) of own employees through regularly scheduled safety meetings, one on one development, reminders, and disciplinary action, if necessary.
- Follows all requirements listed in the Supervisor Safety Procedures Manual (SSPM) including, but not limited to, safety training, emergency procedures, accident reporting and investigation, and employee observations.
- Ensures compliance of production staff with all policies and procedures, OSHA, MSHA, and NCDOT guidelines.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Supervises, manages, and directs the selection, training, development, and appraisal of employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent in a related field from a two-year college or technical school preferred. Five (5) or more years of related experience required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Current North Carolina Driver’s License required
- Storm water certification and traffic control certification preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Prioritizes tasks.
- Handles multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Prioritizes, organizes, and delegates assignments.
