Branch Builds, Inc. is seeking a dependable Grading Foreman to join our Civil Division in Rocky Mount, VA. The Foreman coordinates grading operations and supervises the crew on-site, acting as the liaison between workers and supervisors to keep projects on track.

The role requires overseeing safety, planning daily activities, managing equipment and materials, and delivering quality results while controlling costs. Strong communication and decision-making skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Working knowledge of applicable standards, specifications, codes, regulations and laws.
• 5+ years’ experience with highway construction.
• 3+ years’ experience as a Grading Foreman.
• Experience with heavy equipment for dirt and site projects.
• Knowledgeable in dirt work, including excavation, grade work, surveying and final excavating work.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Experience with GPS.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet fleet policy requirements.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Ability to use good judgement with effective decision making.
• Ability to get job done with minimal supervision, on time, within budget or better.

Responsibilities

• Oversee grading crew and coordinate with Owner, Engineer, and team to maintain professional relations.
• Plan, build by plans and specifications as directed by supervisor.
• Preplan and schedule grading activities daily with the Superintendent.
• Ensure proper storage of materials and equipment; monitor inventory.
• Maintain equipment operation and apply appropriate use.
• Prepare daily reports, work unit quantities, and materials receipts.
• Ensure quality control and contract compliance of grading activities.
• Lead safety initiatives and coordinate with safety managers for OSHA compliance.
• Attend End-Of-Shift Meetings and Morning Huddles; participate in Weekly Team Meetings.
• Promote a safe, respectful work environment and manage on-site personnel.
