JT Russell & Sons is hiring a full-time Grading Foreman in Albemarle, NC. You will directly supervise grade and pipe crews, ensure safety, read plans, and coordinate with foremen and DOT personnel to keep projects on schedule.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in heavy civil/highway work, proven leadership, and ability to manage materials, crew scheduling, and field documentation in diverse weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Grade Foreman in heavy civil/highway work.
• Familiarity with GPS-based layout and site measurements is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Proven commitment to safety and quality on job sites.
• Strong communication with foremen, subcontractors and DOT personnel.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise grade and pipe crews in field operations.
• Train crew members on protocols and safety measures; maintain time, material and equipment records.
• Sequence pipe installations to minimize project disruption and optimize workflow.

Experience in scheduling materials and employees for projects is critical, along with keen attention to detail and situational awareness to uphold safety standards. Physical stamina is necessary, as the role requires standing for long periods, bending, and lifting up to 90 pounds. Familiarity with GPS technology is a plus, and holding or obtaining certifications such as Erosion Control Level I or II, Trenching/Excavation Competent Person Training, and Work Zone Safety Supervisor is beneficial. You must also be proficient in working outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining professionalism in interactions with co-workers, inspectors, and the public.

Knowledge And Skills Required For The Position Are

• 3+ years of experience as a Grade Foreman in the heavy civil and/or highway industry required.


• Incorporates accident prevention and corrective measures in all activities


• Willing to perform some manual labor as needed


• Reliable transportation to and from the Albemarle Office or Jobsite; Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record
