Job description

Overview

DNT Construction, LLC is looking for field personnel as a Construction Grade Checker for rough and precise grading. The role involves understanding plans and specs, crew and project layout, providing clear direction for cut/fill, setting hubs and stakes, calculating percentages, volumes, areas, and production rates, accurately setting grade, setting up sloping laser, shooting in building elevations, GPS set up & operation, operating within OSHA and DNT safety policies, and helping to achieve project schedules. This position is Monday through Saturday and often requires overtime.

Responsibilities

• Understand plans and specifications.
• Lay out crew and project.
• Provide clear direction for cut/fill.
• Set hubs and stakes.
• Calculate percentages, volumes, areas, and production rates.
• Accurately set grade.
• Set up sloping laser.
• Shoot in building elevations.
• Set up & operate GPS.
• Operate within OSHA and DNT safety policies.
• Help achieve project schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience in using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Training in marking and reading survey stakes to determine grade specifications.
• Ability to observe, direct, and control equipment excavating activities to conform to stake references.
• Ability to communicate with equipment operators, supervision, and management.
• Be on time and ready to work.
• Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
• Work outside in all weather for extended periods of time.
• Communicate effectively with management and field personnel.
• Bilingual language skills is a plus.
