Qualifications

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and pedagogy.
• Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and action planning.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
• Ability to use computer networks and software applications as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
• Develops lesson plans and materials and translates them into learning experiences.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instruction to fit needs.
• Instructs students in responsible citizenship and other subjects as required by law.
• Continuing professional development through seminars and research.
• Maintains records for grading and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
• Encourages parental involvement and effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures pupil behavior standards and maintains learning atmosphere.
• Coordinates with staff to evaluate curriculum and participates in meetings.
• Selects textbooks and supplies and maintains inventory records.
• Supervises students during activities outside the classroom.
• Administers standardized tests per district programs.
