Job summary

AIS Infrastructure Group seeks a GPS Grade Checker to oversee GPS surveying tech and data collection on heavy civil construction projects. You will assist field crews with layout of underground utilities, boundary lines, and earthworks, ensuring accurate GPS setups and compliance with safety standards.

The role requires strong GPS knowledge, experience with total stations and Trimble equipment, and the ability to analyze survey data.

Qualifications

• 3+ years GPS surveying experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GPS surveying techniques and principles.
• Familiarity with surveying, photogrammetry, and LiDAR.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in GPS software and data processing tools.
• Experience with total station equipment and Trimble equipment/software.
• Ability to interpret and analyze survey data and maps.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Customer service-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate GPS surveying and mapping activities on construction sites (recording locations of features).
• Execute ground surveys using total station equipment and inspections.
• Assist field employees with laying out underground utilities and boundary lines.
• Ensure accurate setup and calibration of GPS survey equipment.
• Conduct quality control checks on GPS and drone-collected data.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to analyze survey data.
• Maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment.
• Ensure compliance with regulations for GPS and drone operations.
• Contribute to development of GPS surveying procedures.
