The Opportunity
Alpha Inc. is looking for a GPS Program Manager to own and oversee our GPS, modeling, machine-control, and construction-data operations across O?ahu and Kaua?i.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to sit behind a monitor and push CAD files downstream.
We need someone who understands that the model matters because the field depends on it.
You’ll turn contract drawings, survey information, design changes, and field conditions into accurate 3D models and reliable machine-control data that help our crews build faster, smarter, and with precision. You’ll work alongside project teams, engineers, estimators, operators, and field leadership to make sure what exists digitally can actually be built in the dirt.
And when something doesn't add up?
You don't pass the problem along. You find it, challenge it, solve it, and make sure the field has what it needs to execute.
If you know construction, understand GPS and machine control, can see problems in a model before they become expensive problems in the field, and take serious pride in getting the details right, we want to talk.
About Alpha Inc.
Alpha Inc. is a Hawai?i-grown company working across heavy civil construction, drilling, energy, and infrastructure.
We build work that matters to Hawai?i—and we expect the people behind that work to bring craftsmanship, accountability, and pride to what they do.
Our three core values aren't wall art. They're how we operate:
Leading with Heart – Treat people with humility, empathy, respect, and genuine care.
Strength in Unity – One crew, many talents. We solve problems and win together.
Alpha Mentality – Bring grit, accountability, excellence, and the drive to keep getting better.
As our GPS Program Manager for O?ahu and Kaua?i, you'll put all three into practice—supporting the people in the field, connecting teams through accurate information, and refusing to settle for mediocre work.
What You’ll Own
Own GPS & Machine-Control Data Across Two Islands
- You’ll take ownership of the accuracy, readiness, and integrity of GPS and machine-control information supporting Alpha's O?ahu and Kaua?i projects.
- Create, maintain, and issue machine-control data for GPS-guided equipment.
- Verify information before it reaches the field and ensure data is accurate, current, and constructible.
- Perform GPS field calibrations and support survey and machine-guidance operations.
- Help troubleshoot issues when field conditions, plans, models, or equipment aren't lining up.
Build Models That Crews Can Actually Build From
- Create detailed, accurate 2D and 3D construction models using AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, or similar platforms.
- Develop construction sketches, exhibits, field files, and supporting documents.
- Update models throughout the project lifecycle to incorporate design revisions, field modifications, and as-built conditions.
- Produce visualizations, renderings, and other materials that make complex construction information easier to understand.
Catch Problems Before They Cost Us
- A-player performance in this role means finding problems before they reach production.
- Review contract drawings, specifications, surveys, and models for discrepancies, conflicts, missing information, and constructability issues.
- Work with project teams, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to resolve problems.
- Develop RFIs when plans or specifications need clarification.
- Protect our crews from working off bad or outdated information.
Support Better Bids & Better Plans
- Perform quantity takeoffs from 3D models to support estimating and project planning.
- Partner with project teams during bidding, preconstruction, and active construction.
- Help teams understand quantities, sequencing, site conditions, and potential conflicts before mobilization whenever possible.
Be the Bridge Between Technology & the Field
- Great technology is useless if the people doing the work can't use it.
- Train and support field personnel in GPS equipment, survey equipment, machine-control systems, and applicable software.
- Build credibility with operators and field leadership by understanding how the work actually gets built.
- Translate technical information into practical direction crews can use.
- Spend time where the work happens—this is not a desk-only position.
- Create disciplined, repeatable practices for GPS data, modeling, calibration, file management, and field deployment across both islands.
- Coordinate priorities across multiple projects and teams.
- Maintain control of project lifecycle data so teams are working from the right information at the right time.
- Travel between O?ahu and Kaua?i as business and project needs require.
What Winning Looks Like
- We’re interested in outcomes, not just activity.
- A successful GPS Program Manager helps create an operation where:
- Field crews trust the data. Files are accurate, current, constructible, and ready when needed.
- Machines work from the right information. GPS and machine-control data support efficient production instead of creating rework.
- Problems get caught upstream. Conflicts and ambiguities are identified early and driven toward resolution.
- Project teams have better intelligence. Models and takeoffs improve planning, bidding, coordination, and execution.
- O?ahu and Kaua?i operate to one standard. Teams aren't reinventing the GPS process from project to project.
- Field teams become more capable. Operators and staff receive practical training and support that makes the technology more valuable.
- You own the result. When something isn't working, you don't wait for someone else to fix it.
What You Bring
This role requires someone with enough construction experience to understand that a beautiful model that doesn't work in the field is still a bad model.
- 5+ years of experience in construction, CAD, GPS/machine control, surveying, or closely related work.
- Associate degree in Construction Management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, or comparable 3D modeling software.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Civil CAD, and Trimble Business Center.
- Strong working knowledge of surveying methods, GPS technology, and machine guidance.
- Ability to read and analyze contract drawings, specifications, and field surveys.
- Experience developing and maintaining construction models and machine-control data.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing project demands and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills—you can work effectively with operators, field crews, Project Managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability and willingness to work across active construction environments and travel between O?ahu and Kaua?i as required.
- Drone surveying experience and familiarity with drone-surveying techniques preferred.
- Valid, unexpired driver's license with a clean driving record.
The A-Player We’re Looking For
- Technical skill gets you into the conversation. Ownership is what will make you successful here.
- You’re the kind of person who notices when something is three inches off and can't comfortably ignore it.
- You ask questions before assumptions become rework.
- You can communicate with an engineer in the morning, troubleshoot with an operator in the afternoon, and update the model so tomorrow's crew starts with better information.
- You don't hide behind software, titles, or emails.
- Earn trust by being accurate, responsive, prepared, and willing to get into the field when that's where the answer is.
- Most importantly, you embody Leading with Heart, Strength in Unity, and Alpha Mentality while holding yourself—and the work—to a high standard.
Why Alpha?
Because the work you're modeling isn't theoretical.
It's Hawai?i.
The roads, infrastructure, sites, and projects our crews build become part of the communities where we live and work. Your work will directly influence how efficiently and accurately those projects get built across O?ahu and Kaua?i.
At Alpha, you'll have the opportunity to combine construction knowledge with technology, work alongside people who know how to build, and help push our field operations forward.
We're not looking for someone to simply maintain the GPS program.
We're looking for someone who can make it better.
