Job summary

Peoples Gas System seeks a GPS Technician I to support, administer, configure, and test GPS and GIS applications used by the gas system. The role focuses on field-based data collection, mapping, and reporting to ensure accurate as-built information and system integrity.

Responsibilities include QA/QC of GPS data, updating GIS land base information, and collaborating with IT and end-users to deliver reliable maps, displays, and queries for operational decisions.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Florida driver license with safe record.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Appropriate degrees in Geography, GIS, or Drafting may substitute part of experience.
• Experience with GPS field collection software/hardware.

Responsibilities

• Provide user support and training for GPS Barcoding and GIS data.
• Maintain GPS and Barcoding equipment; manage inventory and repair field devices.
• Participate in process improvements, testing enhancements, and data quality checks.
• Create ad-hoc maps, displays, reports, and basic geospatial analyses.
• Update GIS with as-built data and coordinate with engineers and regulators.
