Granite Construction is seeking a construction equipment operator to operate tractors and bulldozers to prepare land for roads and buildings. You will read engineering drawings, follow safety guidelines, and perform basic maintenance.

The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in dusty, outdoor environments. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, proper certifications, and completed an apprenticeship, with training provided on the job.

Responsabilités

• Greases, oils, or repairs tractors as needed.

General Summary

GPS experience able to push material efficiently, able to finish slopes and stay busy. Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads and buildings. This job participates in on-the-job training.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge‑pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right‑of‑way.
• Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
• May grease, oil, and repair tractor.

Education

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.

Certification

• Proper certification required.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program required.

Work Experience

• Appropriate training and experience required.
