Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or PTO to tractor to power attachment.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Operates tractor controls to raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Estimates depth of cut by feeling lever and listening for engine stalling.
• Drives bulldozer over terrain to shape ground to specified grade.
• Greases, oils, and repairs tractor as needed.

General Summary

Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads and buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
• May grease, oil, and repair tractor.

Education

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Certification

• Proper certification required
• Completion of an apprenticeship program required.

Work Experience

• Appropriate training and experience required
